Fair Housing and Diversity Forum | Fall 2021
According to most recent Census data, California's homeownership rate for Blacks is 34% while White homeownership is 63%. Even if efforts to make homeownership more affordable are successful, is this enough to close the gap for California’s Black community? What can be done to address the legacy and possible impacts of past discrimination? Is California’s challenging housing market and affordability exacerbating the problem? Our panel of experts will break down the issue, discuss complex, innovative and potentially race-conscious remedies, and unpack these questions as we work toward a solution.
