Lessons Learned from Long Island Divided with Bill Dedman
The Marin Association of REALTORS, Fair Housing Advocates of Northern California, the Northern Solano Association of REALTORS®, and the Solano Association of REALTORS® have teamed up to bring you:

Pulitzer Prize winner and No. 1 bestselling author Bill Dedman, who was a lead reporter on Newsday's Peabody Award-winning three-year investigation Long Island Divided and its documentary film Testing the Divide, which are raising awareness of illegal steering by
real estate agents.

Bill developed the methodology for the investigation, including recruiting, training, and deploying 25 testers with hidden cameras.

Bill will go over:
• How were the tests conducted?
• What were the major findings?
• How to avoid steering?
• Can agents talk about schools?
• How to ensure fair treatment?

In response to the Newsday investigation, the National Association of Realtors has added
anti-bias training, is reviewing state laws, and is developing a self-testing program for brokerages to monitor agents for fair-housing compliance.
Would your agents pass the test?
